The Trojan Women Setting Fire to Their Fleet
Part of the Vault-12 Historic Art Collection — Archive 01, this T-shirt features The Trojan Women Setting Fire to Their Fleet by Claude Lorrain, painted around 1643.
The work depicts a dramatic episode from Virgil’s Aeneid, in which the Trojan women, exhausted by years of wandering after the fall of Troy, set fire to their own fleet in an attempt to bring the journey to an end. Claude Lorrain places the event within a vast coastal landscape of ships, distant mountains, soft light and an approaching storm, allowing the natural setting to dominate the scene with a calm but cinematic sense of scale.
Printed on a premium 100% organic cotton French Navy T-shirt, the muted blues, sea tones and atmospheric sky sit naturally against the garment, giving the artwork a refined and balanced finish.
Finished with Vault-12 woven branding at the neck, sleeve and lower hem, and presented as part of the first Historic Art Collection release.
